I looked at the example, and example answer, and bold underlined words, and felt that it expected all the numbers to be listed. I see most submissions have penalties, so that appears common. Perhaps the full answer (which includes the official answer inside it) could be accepted as an alternative correct answer? Yes. I haven't been familiar with the puzzles so didn't know immediately what was going on, but this makes sense. I'll speak to Tawan and accept the other answer too. It might take a while to sort out the results page though. |

These booklets are password protected because they are for fixed time contests, and the idea is you do not see the puzzles till your timer starts, so that no one gains an unfair advantage. So any particular contest, once it starts or once you click the start button, the password will appear and a timer will begin to count down, at which point you are expected to print the PDF and start solving. Again, this is all explained clearly with images in the F.A.Q. which I highly recommend going through. |

Posts: 2 | RogerChristman posted @ 2021-11-14 9:27 AM I am having significant technical issues that are really interfering with my enjoyment of this event. I do not have PenPa -- I do not have a printer -- so the best I have been able to do so far has been to take a screenshot of a puzzle and try to modify it with MS Paint. This proves to be very clumsy, especially with my virtual pen's habit of turning itself into an eraser at inopportune times, probably adding at least 40% to my solving times. So far I have only been able to solve 3 puzzles out of 5, and the slowdown has always made the submissions close before I could supply any answers. Scoring 0 points on the one day that I thought I would have the most free time is not a promising start to this event. I did see that PenPa was automatically connected to the Timed Events (I tried and failed to solve the recent Football puzzle). Is there any remote chance of that being automatically linked to the other puzzle events? |

Is there any remote chance of that being automatically linked to the other puzzle events? There are many internal reasons why we didn't have penpa for the main competition rounds. If this is your first time, remember you get to keep the puzzles and can practice. All big events are usually offline and on paper, so generally speaking it'd be good to print out the stuff you haven't solved after the event and try it out. For now, check out the bonus rounds as they will have penpa too. For instance, the King of Kakuro round later today. Also, continue trying the time trials :) We wanted an event for everyone while also keeping the main competition fair for top solvers. There are a few reasons why having penpa support goes away from that. |

Posts: 164 Country : Slovakia | greenhorn posted @ 2021-11-14 1:21 PM Does "the building" mean the first building seen in that direction or any building seen in that direction? The answer is both of these situations are valid. Let‘s say if you have numbers 142365, you can see buildings 146 from the left side and buildings 56 from the right side. |

I think I could've improved the wording with "the building of that height will be seen from that direction". For example, a clue 3 would imply that 'the 3-storey building will be seen from that direction'. It could be in the first cell, or any other cell as long as it is seen. But I think you understand the rules correctly now. |
