Have you read the F.A.Q.? It is linked to on the home page as well as the landing page linked to above. These booklets are password protected because they are for fixed time contests, and the idea is you do not see the puzzles till your timer starts, so that no one gains an unfair advantage. So any particular contest, once it starts or once you click the start button, the password will appear and a timer will begin to count down, at which point you are expected to print the PDF and start solving.

Again, this is all explained clearly with images in the F.A.Q. which I highly recommend going through.

I am having significant technical issues that are really interfering with my enjoyment of this event.
I do not have PenPa -- I do not have a printer -- so the best I have been able to do so far has been
to take a screenshot of a puzzle and try to modify it with MS Paint. This proves to be very clumsy,
especially with my virtual pen's habit of turning itself into an eraser at inopportune times, probably
adding at least 40% to my solving times. So far I have only been able to solve 3 puzzles out of 5,
and the slowdown has always made the submissions close before I could supply any answers.
Scoring 0 points on the one day that I thought I would have the most free time is not a promising
start to this event.

I did see that PenPa was automatically connected to the Timed Events (I tried and failed to
solve the recent Football puzzle). Is there any remote chance of that being automatically linked
to the other puzzle events?

If you are asking about the spaces between the letters, then the answer is NO. It means that spaces in the given letters have to be ignored.

There are many internal reasons why we didn't have penpa for the main competition rounds. If this is your first time, remember you get to keep the puzzles and can practice. All big events are usually offline and on paper, so generally speaking it'd be good to print out the stuff you haven't solved after the event and try it out.

For now, check out the bonus rounds as they will have penpa too. For instance, the King of Kakuro round later today. Also, continue trying the time trials :)

We wanted an event for everyone while also keeping the main competition fair for top solvers. There are a few reasons why having penpa support goes away from that.

Sport Climbing (Multi Skyscrapers): I'm a bit confused about the Haido rules: "clues indicate the size of the building that must be seen from that direction"
Does "the building" mean the first building seen in that direction or any building seen in that direction ?

The answer is both of these situations are valid. Let‘s say if you have numbers 142365, you can see buildings 146 from the left side and buildings 56 from the right side.

What I meant is: several buildings can be seen from a direction. The clue then indicates any one of them, correct ? I'm not a native speaker, but shouldn't "*the* building" be rephrased as "*a* building" then ?

I think I could've improved the wording with "the building of that height will be seen from that direction".
For example, a clue 3 would imply that 'the 3-storey building will be seen from that direction'. It could be in the first cell, or any other cell as long as it is seen.
But I think you understand the rules correctly now.

Sport Climbing (Multi Skyscrapers)

In the example, there are no given clues in the grey cells. Is this the case in the competition puzzle and is the solving of the clues part of the puzzle? In other words, are there given clues in the grey cells and does the rule sets apply only to these rows/columns with the clues, or does the rule apply to all rows/columns even if the clue is not given as in the example?

There won't be a combined ranking. Each time trial is separate.

Apologies if I missed a mention of this: In Multi Skyscrapers, is determining the rule-grid pairings part of the puzzle (I suppose Regions and -depending on formatting- Diagonal is obvious) or will they be given?

There may or may not be given clues in the grey cells. But there will be grey cells clearly marked to indicate where a clue applies to 2 adjacent grids.
