Hard to choose sudoku competitions, there were so many good ones. Easy to choose puzzles - these, where I participated:)

Posts: 419 Country : India | kishy72 posted @ 2012-12-28 8:54 PM I loved Akil oyunlari competetion so much so that i tried to order copies of Akil oyunlari magazines...but sadly they are not available for sale commercially in india...It had everything maths based puzzles ,good hard crosswords etc...would love to see it again and i would also like to make a suggestion ....contests like Di , puzzle cup and so on can be considered for ratings ...particularly when the participant is allowed to have an option whether the test should be considered for his ratings or not what is the point in excluding some for ratings and including the rest. And the best idea that was conceived in LMI i feel is Beginners sudoku .I am getting a taste of the different variants that exist in sudokus gradually...I am sure many others would feel the same...The fun that you get when u catch hold of that sole candidate in sudokus is what i like the most and most of the hard sudokus were designed exactly of that sort..Hope Beginners sudoku contest continues next year with full vigour and may the variants never get exhausted!

For Sudoku, I think the Beginners Sudoku contests have been a clear winner. Not just because I think they serve a good purpose, but because the actual puzzles have been of a very high standard. For the puzzle contests, I would be hard pressed to choose between the CTC and Fillomino Filllia 2. Both are tours de force of design, creativity, and variety within a single basic puzzle type.
