So many guesses, but none of them are close

The name is the contest is just "Di..."

Eh? I think the person who guessed one of the puzzle types on it should get some credit ;)

I would think everyone knows this, but let me in any case note that, Riad has been doing this twice-a-year internet online contest (one in April and then in September) in the Diogen website since 2008. (I'm not sure if there were contests older than 2008). Usually, the puzzles were very tough and the contests were open for 7 days.

This year he decided to change the format and make it a regular contest - keeping WPC in mind, and also decided to host the contest at LMI. Thanks Riad for doing this at LMI.

More about Riad can be found at LMI authors' page here

Edit : Riad has been conducting Internet-tests in the Diogen website from 2004. They were named IPST (Internet Puzzle Solvers Test). Dividing into April and September has begun with 2008.

No, names of all puzzles start with DI
(So distri's guess was closest to being correct, she guessed Diamonds which is also the name of the first puzzle)

Am I missing something or is the solution of puzzle 13, "Division", wrong ? As I understand the rules, the "2" clue touches 2 mines and 1 ship part, therefore a total of 3 objects - which would be false. Is it correct ?

Since it is given as bottom to top, I think you can trust the IB ;)

Edit : Saw the given solution key and I see what you meant now, and now even I'm confused

We shall have to wait for the author to confirm either way I guess.

Administrator edits : It is always top to bottom. We'll get the text rectified.

It says "or", not "and", so I assume it means the clue either applies to one or the other and not the sum of the two types of objects. We'll wait for Riad to confirm that though.

Seems very plausible indeed, and slightly frightening. If it is confirmed, this is probably not the puzzle I will start with.

The answer key does not match with the answer key text.
Please note, it is always "Top to Bottom" (and "Left to Right", if applicable).

We will get the IB answer key text updated.

The creativity and very narrow solve paths that show in all the puzzles the author has ever designed are very commendable and sometimes really intriguing.

In the example of the puzzle 13. Division number 2 should point to either 2 mines, or on 2 parts of ships.

I remember from the old time that Osmium is one of the few elements having a possible oxydation state +8 therefore forming the tetraoxyde OsO4. So my first impression was that the puzzle is wrong. But I have consulted the literature and found that the dioxide is also possible at a lower oxydation state, so the puzzle is chemically correct.

I have a question about Dikuro. The instructions say that "no digits can repeat in a sum". but in the example posted by Serkan there are some blank boxes in which no sum is indicated. Can digits repeat in a row or in a column if no digit is show at the beginning ?

The format is slightly changed, and the blank boxes with no sum are replaced by "?" (also seen in the example booklet). Digits will not repeat if there is a "?" instead of a sum.

EDIT : Further clarification on Dikuro : Even at the top of the column (or left of the row) where there is no "?" or no digit (also seen in practice pdf), digits can not repeat.
Also, It will be obvious from the contest puzzle that "?" can represent 1 digit or 2 digits.

The molecules can not be connected diagonally, they have to be joined orthogonally (as in the example).
