How well did the variants represent the theme of the test ? variations represented the theme well
What was your opinion of the distribution of easy/hard puzzles? Just right
What did you think about the puzzle quality of the test? Very nice
Of the puzzles you solved/attempted, how well did the point values reflect the difficulty? Most puzzles were worth the right amount
What was your opinion of the booklet formatting and printing? Just right

You should get the cartridges refilled soon since next weekend's Sudoku Surprise will not have online solving.

Yes, it's planned. My problem is that when my printer tells me that the cartridges are empty, it's far to be true, I can still print a lot of sheets until it doesn't print correctly. So I prefer to wait until it's really empty, hoping there is no sudoku tournament that day ...

I think you have got a good score considering that 1) this is your first participation 2) there are no submission from you in last 30 minutes or so.

Deb - excellent set of puzzles my friend! I was making very good time until the large quadro. Made a goofy mistake early on, and took way too long trying to fix it. Not only did I still get that one wrong, but I cost myself the extra few minutes I needed to finish the last puzzle. Nevertheless, enjoyable as always. Regards to the LMI crew, Dave

Thank you.
I did practice from the booklets of earlier rounds and insructions booklet of odd and even variations,as you had suggested.
Not new to sudoku completely. I participated in the Bombay Times Competition last year and had managed to clear the first round.
Thanks.

Encompassing the less common variants, this episode of SM turned out to be very difficult for me.With about 2 minutes left on the clock and 25 odd cells to be filled in the odd even count(15),I made a desperate attempt and guessed at 2 circled cells knowing that chances of finishing it logically are close to nil.Thankfully and luckily, the guesses turned out to be right and the time was just enough to submit the 2 answer keys .

Even though the outcome is that I have completed all,I'm not content with the way that I solved this test,
as I remember resorting to guesswork in 3 sudokus atleast.

Oddly,my favourites in this test or the ones that I enjoyed solving the most are the classics as the rest were mostly a kind of struggle between me and the sudokus.I wasted a lot of time on the first sudoku that I attempted(Odd even count(5)) just like in the last episode.Got broken twice and then noticed the logical continuation. Not a great thing to experience at the beginning of a test.

So to conclude,an interesting and a very difficult test. Not surprising though, because the author is Deb!.
The sudokus were excellently constructed .Thanks a lot for a great test Deb.

This is interesting because overall (including the Chain) I found Round 3 easier than Round 2. Maybe you are just not familiar with the O-E marking ways to make these puzzles easier? I am bringing up this point mainly because this is one of the reasons for categorizing the variants - to discuss specific techniques that may be common to a category.

My only pause was on the 6x6 Odd Sum Pair because I was being stupid with eliminating a possibility I shouldn't have. Everything else went pretty smoothly.

Subjective, I guess.I managed to finish episode 2 in about 65 mins and the current one dragged me until the very last.So you can pretty much sum up how difficult it was for me.

You have hit the nail on the head.I too felt that the lack of familiarity with those O-E marking hurt me a lot. Also, I probably should have solved the example puzzles of the new variants like Odd sum pair and Odd Even count which I failed to do......
