Looks like the test is designed to test the capability of entering the answer keys without errors :D. The test is really fun, especially the last one. Looking forward to more of such tests. Thanks and Regards, Ravi |

Posts: 241 Country : Indonesia | chaotic_iak posted @ 2014-04-02 2:50 PM Sooo... Guess who. I am the author of the test. Thank you for everyone that has participated (although the test is still running!), and I hope you had fun. It was my idea to put an April Fools test on LMI. Initially my idea was 12x12 puzzles with trivial answer keys, but Deb gave a different idea of making the puzzles as small as possible, and so you see it: my Fillomino scores the lowest number of cells in a puzzle on LMI ever. (I intentionally didn't put 1x1, because one might see the Fillomino to have only one answer key field before starting. Also if an empty 1x2 is still unique, why not? Nurikabe was different; Deb liked a previous version with 12x12 and that 17 replaced with 136, so there, the hardest puzzle of the test. Heyawake came close as second.) Congratulations to xevs, at the moment, to hold the fastest time of 153 seconds, thus also amassing the highest score on LMI ever with nearly 43.5 thousand points (unless someone knocks him from the top place on this contest). About me being on the scoreboard? That was a test entry (which Deb didn't remove...), with the sole penalty being a Hitori that was updated about 20-30 minutes before test started and Deb hasn't changed the answer key meanwhile. (I excused for "typo" to some people that asked me.) As it turns out, even this test is still not perfect, with some people having technical problems... But most importantly a person that struggled with the test, finishing 18 puzzles with 44 penalties and timed out. Oops, I should have removed the examples from the Puzzle Booklet; looks like he tried to solve the examples from what the records say. auroux - 2014-04-02 1:03 AM Meh... Nice joke but no fun for those of us who were looking forward to a puzzle contest :( With 4x4 grids this could have been much better. If this runs on and I turn out to author the next April Fools Contest...well, expect the unexpected. :P macherlakumar - 2014-04-02 2:01 AM Excellent test its not FAST its actually LIGHTNING FAST :) Did you notice the footer in the Puzzle Booklet? ;) Again, thank you for your participation! Please rate the puzzles too. Time to ask about the technical problems. bob - 2014-04-02 5:31 AM Still trying to get this to work. Only LMI contest I've ever had technical trouble with. First page appears normal, other nine just say "PDF" No amount of clicking or reloading does anything else. Oh well I solved two of them for last place! Can you attach a screenshot or something? The PB is intentionally designed to be not printable and not editable, but selectable (the images can be copied); I might mess up with something when fiddling with those unusual settings. |
