Hi, I am struggling to find the time limit for this test. Am I missing something, or do the Instruction Booklet and contest page lack this information?

The "More Information" link on the contest page has these details. (Also wasn't obvious to me to look there initially.)

The puzzle duration is 90 minutes. The contest page has this information in the "more information" section. The timer also displays the "time remaining" once the contest starts.

However, the Instruction Booklet in its current form does not explicitly mention this. This will be corrected in future contest IBs. Thanks for mentioning this.

Most of the puzzles were very nice, but the point values were complete nonsense -- they don't correlate at all with my solving times for the puzzles I solved. Also, after spending 20 minutes on it I just gave up on #22... not a 5-point problem in my opinion, though I probably missed something. Does it have a logical solving path, and if so what is it? (clearly the even-numbered columns must contain a lot of ship segments, but I don't see how to get anywhere from this observation).

Note that the rules state that arrows indicate the number of DIFFERENT ships in the given direction, not the number of ship segments. (A lot of other made the same mistake!)

Argh. I can't believe I missed that. That does explain a lot of things. Thanks Freddie for pointing it out. I'm still feeling stupid about this puzzle but for different reasons now...

Thanks to you and Rob as well... Yes, this is definitely the answer for the "am I missing something?" dilemma :)

I have finished the contest and still cannot read this thread. Am I the only one ?
(I'm sure I didn't have this problem for the previous contests of 2021, I always read the thread just after solving)
There was likely an issue with the restricting algorithm for this test.
Can you confirm if you can read this message now?

Yes, it's all good now :)

there are 2 strange penalty of my submission, both same subTime, same answer, and both correct, although the bonus and points are normal.

Very nice set of puzzles. I miss the feedback form :-)

I felt the points distribution was off across types. Kakuros, Four Winds were over-valued, Hitoris / some Yajilins were under-valued.

Favourite puzzles:
Shikaku 10x10
Hitori 9x9
Kakuro-Shikaku 6x6

Thanks Prasanna!

The test was nice. Thanks :-) My favourites are the hitori puzzles.

I want to suggest to resume the regular format of instructions. The instruction of a single puzzle should be complete (instruction + example + solution of the example) in a single page.

The last puzzle is also nice after reading the instructions :)

I would like to have more opinions on this front and also reasoning either way if I am to change the format back. I got feedback that people like to solve the examples and find it difficult to do so with the solution next to it. This seemed like a legitimate concern so I switched it up, and I can't see a concrete reason to switch back, but I may be missing something.

The only disadvantage I see to the new system is that the description of the answer code is on a different page to the actual example answer code, and I had to flick back and forth to make sure I understood the code correctly.

This could be fixed by having a (perhaps shortened) reminder of the code's description on the answer page.

Can LMI ensure that from now onwards all tests including PR and Monthly tests will have penpa links for all puzzles? That would be really awesome ....

Thank you. First timed comp for a long time for myself. Got a few puzzles left to solve without time constraint now but nice not to make any mistakes with answer keys on my submissions at all.

We have already announced that they will be present for SM and PR rounds. For non SM and PR rounds we can't make any such statement, it is up to the author(s) if they wish to include them.

Great test with a very nice set of puzzles.
I agree with most of the players feedback here that puzzle points allocation could have been better. I found Four Winds Puzzles very easy but has to struggle with the Hitori Puzzles with the same points.
However, overall a great test. Thanks, Prasanna for these puzzles.

I liked all the exploratory puzzles and the "3rd puzzle" in all types.
Thanks Prasanna!

Wonderful puzzles.
Although a pretty bad start for me, probably going to the discard pile.
I loved the hitori and shikaku variant.
Thanks, Prasanna, LMI, and the testers.
