I finished 3rd in the regional round (puzzle category) at IIT Bombay.

At IIT Bombay, we were informed that the top 3 will qualify for the national finals - was relaxed about the whole thing till today when I saw the list of invitations, and found that it did not incorporate this top 3 per region rule.

I was looking at another thread, and it seems that the declaration "top 3 = qualification for nationals" was indeed made elsewhere as well.
(adityasaraf007's post in http://www.logicmastersindia.com/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=2...)

Now, I don't know what to do as I did not participate in the online round either.

ABC Connection: Do all cells have to be used, or can some cells remain empty?

Paint-By-Number: Are the clues in the same order as seen from the given direction?

So there are no playoffs/eliminators/semis/finals,right?
The total score from all the 38 puzzles across the 3 rounds will be taken into consideration, right?

That is correct.
Time bonus will be added to score.

ABC Connection - You don't need to know if all cells have to be used to solve the puzzle

Paint-By-Number - Yes, clues are in order. Will change the instruction.

Hi,
In the Queens Park puzzle it is mentioned that "A queen does not block another queen."
Then in that case R2C4 = 4 instead of 3, R2C5 = 5 instead of 4 and R4C4 = 3 instead of 2
I think it should rather say "A queen blocks another queen".

Please verify this.

Thanks
Ravi.

Sorry about that statement "A queen does not block another queen".
It is not necessary, and moreover confusing.

The correct instruction will read
"Place X number of queens into the grid
so that none of them stands on
a number and each number
equals to the number of
directions from which the given
square is attacked by a queen.
A queen attacks to arbitrary
distance horizontally, vertically
and diagonally.
"

It is important to note that the number represents number of directions from which it can be attacked.
It doesn't represent number of queens that can attack the square.

Hope it is clear.

Check the 2 at R4C4, it is attacked from 2 directions (doesn't matter how many queens)

In Hexa Seven, it says 'Write numbers between 1 and 7 into the white hexagons so that the neighbours of each white hexagon are all different.'
I think 'Something Is Missing' ;-) (I guess numbers cannot repeat along any line?)

1) AREA OCCUPATION (Filomino)
Is it like size if 4*4 so the numbers used are 1-4.
2)Different Sums
sums by coincidence are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6.
but is it always true or there may be a gap in bigger puzzles like 0,1,2,5,......
3)Tiger in the woods
rule says that path is allowed to take a turn after hitting either a black square or a wall ..
but at r6c3 teh path is changing.. please check it !!!!!

No.
"Size of the grid" and "digits used" aren't related. Btw, I hope you (and others) have checked out Fillomino-Fillia

You are asking me to reveal about the puzzle in the competition. I'm not going to do that.

The outside border also serves as wall.

hey deb,
FOR TIGER IN THE WOODS
in the puzzle booklet the point where it is changing is hitting the path not the wall.[r6c3]
