The word puzzles were good, but some of the casual puzzles just seemed like too much guessing/manual labor. |

- Almost Chess - needed lot of pencilmarking and elimination. And it is better done at the start. It is difficult to do under time pressure. Maybe 2 and 3 needed more diligent effort and people could tend to guess. But all three can be done by logical elimination if you work with the right piece (s )
- Curve data - can be done logically
- Shortest distances - can be done logically
- Arithmetic square - can be done logically
- Letter weights - can be done logically
- Compass - can be done logically
- Pyramid Climbers - can be done logically |

Very Nice Puzzles. My favourites were the Almost chess 5 pointer,Meandering words and the Letter scrabble 11 pointer,for which i somehow couldnt place only 1 word,which was frustrating and ate up my time in trying to fix it. Enjoyed the test.Thanks Rakesh for the puzzles |

Very nice set of puzzles, but on the harder side for PR. Favourites puzzles: Scrabble, Almost Chess 2, Meandering Words 2
I spent nearly 15+ minutes on Letter Weights, and ultimately still couldn't solve it in time :- (

Country : India | vopani - I spent nearly 15+ minutes on Letter Weights, and ultimately still couldn't solve it in time :( The trick was NIKOLA = 25. That means PRWZ =20. And with help of PARA and WA you can get this real quick, in about 3-4 minutes. |

Loved how the placement of the 3-letter-word was a trick in the last puzzle in Letter scrabble. At first I placed it in the wrong slot (which was perfectly fine by scrabble rules ) which blocked a final word from being placed in the grid. Curve datas apparently are my weak point, but very interesting puzzles overall. |

Awesome set. I started badly by getting stuck in letter weights and had to let it go after spending lot of time. Somehow gathered momentum towards the end. Enjoyed word puzzles thoroughly. |

Very nice test. Sure, "casual is not guessing", but I intuited through several of these puzzles... only to realize that they do have nice logical solutions. (Most of them. I still have no idea about Almost Chess. ) |

I love Scrabble, and after making lots of it, you definitely get a feel for them.
Curve Data is one of my kryptonites and after failing to tweak out a correct answer, I tried logically solving it and it worked!
Happy with a top-10 finish though.

Country : Canada | I wasn't able to solve #17 during the test time, but I tried it later. I get an answer key different than what is shown on the Summary page, but I can't find a flaw in my solution. Are there multiple solutions? FWIW, my key would be WUTHEA,OHISIN,RUPAHA. And I note that no-one else submitted this key, so I'm guessing I'm missing something somewhere.
EDIT: UGH! I found my problem. I missed this, which would have made it MUCH easier: "The first letter of each word is already given."

Amongst Indian participants, Congratulations to Rohan Rao, Prasanna Seshadri and Amit Sowani for taking the top 3 places.
Of the 156 participants, 29 were from India and 21 from USA. Kazuya Yamamoto (Japan) was the first to start the test while Tawan Sunathvanichkul (Thailand) was the last person to start the test. 13 participants completed the set within the allotted time. The median score of the test was 52.3.

Well it did not go as I expected. Another hard round for me, could have definitely done better. I was stuck on lower pointers than high. On bright side, I did better than last year in terms of score. Favourites were Scrabble and Curve Data. I still have to solve Almost Chess. Some reason I felt some lower pointers deserved more points, but could be just my personal experience. Puzzles were tricky rather than tough but I would say it as hard for a PR round. Nonetheless high quality puzzles. I enjoyed every bit. Thanks Rakesh. |

The answer is pretty clear. Based on the timestamps (and assuming time was continuously spent on a single puzzle ), we have the following winners of the "Word half". These are only estimates, though, and does not consider participants who submitted all answers in one go.
