I think the only problem was the location of the answer keys. In the 2-nd 6x6 classic the answer key column was the first column I solved there. I actually solved taht column + 4 other digits in the grid.

Some of the classic Sudoku puzzles in this test were far more difficult than the assigned point values, and indeed more difficult than some of the fancy variations. I felt the variants were good though; no complaints in this section.

I felt the variants were good though; no complaints in this section. I felt the 6x6 ones (and 8x8 one) were fair, but the 9x9 ones were too tricky for their value. I usually don't have any problems with the classic 9x9s so was surprised here by this.

I like Instructionless the most. I couldn't solve it in time, but after the test I enjoyed it so much. Good techniques were used in both of them.

Posts: 337 Country : Switzerland | Fred76 posted @ 2016-03-14 4:36 PM Nice set of sudokus, thanks ! I crashed the toroidal sudoku, loosing 13 minutes between trying to fix my mistake and solving it entirely again after the first strategy wasn't successful. Thanks for the whole sudoku mahabharat series, it was fun, even if designed first for indian players. Fred

Very nice puzzles, but felt its on the harder side. Really liked some of the solving paths here... top quality puzzles. My favourites were both the Instructionless ones and the Scattered 9x9.

Posts: 157 Country : India | akash.doulani posted @ 2016-03-15 11:37 AM It was a wonderful experience creating sudokus for the test. Thank you so much Deb for giving me this opportunity. We had very less time (approx 10 days) to finalise a lot of things . So this is what we could actually come up with . I am glad so many participants liked it. Deb has made a mistake by crediting me with instructionless 9x11. It was 90% his effort and 10% mine. I would also like to thank Ashish Kumar for actually making me believe that I can create Sudokus when I had just started creating. Thanks Ashish .

Posts: 55 Country : India | ashaash11ash posted @ 2016-03-15 3:16 PM It is good to see that many indians are not only improving themselves in the solve but also in the authoring side. Many indians have contibuted their puzzles for the first time in SM and the response was quite impressive. I believe its because of the passion they have for puzzles which takes them to such a level. Same passion I saw in Akash and it was him who took an effort to get into creation side and achieved this level. I did nothing to make him create but just his interest towards creation was more than the motivation from my side.

Really nice contest. I didn't really do that well, I just missed too many easy deductions on the day, but I still enjoyed it. Its really nice to see a new author emerging during SM and not only that but taking on the responsibility to contribute a significant portion of the round. Well done Akash, and also Gaurav, the other first time author. I thought the two Scattered Sudokus had some lovely patterns and logic and thats my favorite section. Amit's one contribution was really nice too :P All in all, a great way to end the online segment of SM. |
