Wonderful. I was ranked 162nd in JPL1. Time to continue the mad improvement in sequels

Really looking forward to this one. JPL1 falls under the category of "tests I wasn't fully able to appreciate when I just knew a handful of puzzle types".

Hi, I have a doubt with respect to the puzzle "Arrow Connection". One of the rules mention "A direction is given if and only if it is used". What does this imply? Why are directions not shown in all boxes wherever the loop traverses?

This rule applies only to clued cells. So, for each cell in the grid, either "all possible directions are given" or "no information is given" must be true. I hope this is clear.

Yes, that cleared my doubt.

Not necessarily. There may be some unused cells.

In Arrow Connection if an arrow appears twice around a cell, is an arrow given twice or once. I know it's not possible in the example as the start and goal are in the corners, but with different start and goal points, this could happen. For example, when you draw a spiral.

Good question. An arrow is given only once even in such cases.

A practice puzzles PDF has now been posted on the submission site (Link). Please note that some of the puzzles may be of a harder difficulty than their counterparts appearing in the test.

In Divided sum cross it says " no digit repeat within a single group divided by black cells".
so if clue is 7:_ _ _ _ _ :17 (5 cells blank in between). so is all 5 cells considered one group or is considered as two groups ?

All 5 cells are considered as one group. So, solutions like 7:1 6 | 4 7 6 :17 (two 6's in one group) are not allowed.

You have to first login at the submission page ( http://logicmastersindia.com/2013/11P/ ). Then click on "Start Japanese Puzzle Land 2". You will see the password. From the database log, we see that you have not "started" the test yet. After you start, you will have 2 hours to solve and submit as many puzzles.

Please check the F.A.Q. which explains these steps with some images. Please post here if something is not clear.

How balanced do you think the puzzle types of this test were? Fairly balanced
What was your opinion of the distribution of easy/hard puzzles? Just right
What did you think about the puzzle quality of the test? Very nice
What was your opinion about the answer key extraction? Mostly perfect answer keys
How did you feel about the length / time limit for this test? A bit too many puzzles
Of the puzzles you solved/attempted, how well did the point values reflect the difficulty? Most puzzles were worth the right amount
What was your opinion of the booklet formatting and printing? Just right
