New website: TVC's will now be held under LMI instead of OAPC site. Fixed competition time does not allow to welcome many participants, and OAPC site does not have the option to hold contests with flexible times. So we offered LMI this test and they kindly found a place for us in their tight schedule. Thanks to LMI!

Concept: The contests will last four weeks, one small contest in every two weeks. The first contest (TVC V) will be held in February 5th-6th 2011. The following ones will be February 19th-20th, March 5th-6th and March 19th-20th. Duration of the test will be 75 minutes.

There will be winners of every week, and at the end of the four contests there will be a Tapa variations winner, determined with the sum of points earned in all four weeks. Winner of 2010 was Nikola Zivanovic from Serbia.

Contribution: We would be pleased to receive any ideas on possible Tapa variations. If you have such ideas, please share your opinions under this topic so we can consider preparing those types in following weeks.

It is nice to have TVC at LMI. It was sometimes difficult to take the test in the specified time frame. I am hoping to participate now in all the TVC as timing will be more flexible now.

Last year TVC ranking system was discussed in German LM forum, and there was a suggestion of Realshaggy:

But I still think, that something like "best 3 out of 4" (with normalized scores of course) would have been much better. Then there still would have been a small advantage for competitors contributing in all four contests.

This suggestion didn't seem acceptable back then, but now we decided to change the overall scoring system as "best 3 results out of 4" with the same suggestion from Deb. So each competitor will have a chance to win even if he/she misses one contest.

I agree with the scoring system. Everyone has the possibility to improve one bad day. Last year was too difficult to find a suitable time for the whole world. I was one of those who managed to attend all four times, so that the title was given to me. Perhaps it was little undeservedly, but such were the rules. Now it will be much easier to participate, and much harder to defend the title. I can not wait to start.
