Country : India | debmohanty posted @ 2011-04-22 9:37 PM During Spring Sudoku Test last month, some players faced problems while solving the Killer Sudoku online. We've made few changes to the interface, and I feel the interface for solving Killer Sudoku is much better than how it was in last month. Please check the example on the submission page. Thanks mainly to Rakesh who came up with multiple ideas to change the interface with minimal effort. There was one more suggestion to make the grids re-sizable. We didn't find any easy way to achieve this given the existing framework. However, we'll keep this in mind as a potential enhancement for future. |

This should be more closely fought than Twist! |

Posts: 199 Country : United States | motris posted @ 2011-04-24 9:37 PM It's definitely possible to make a 6-given Trio. If you sketch out a 2-given path for any set of three digits which has just one digit per column in each region (I've just done this), then you can cycle the three rows in every chute with the same 2-given pattern to get a 6-given puzzle. My 6-given isn't that interesting since it is the same puzzle three times, but the theoretical limit can be achieved certainly. Edited by motris 2011-04-24 9:38 PM |

I tried creating a 6-given Trio sometime back, but I didn't push after failing a couple of times. My enthu got lost until yesterday when I was fondly surprised to see it. All I can say, I could've tried harder :-) I've always felt variants like Odd-Even and Trio are more enjoyable if there is a not-so-obvious path of solving, which is rarely the case. |

Country : India | Administrator posted @ 2011-04-25 9:02 AM Another 5 hours. So boring waiting to announce the results when only a handful of players have participated since mid-night (IST). It is surprising that nobody complained about the score page (not this test but all LMI score pages), the main table on left is not sortable. So when someone is viewing the score page after few hours they have no way to figure out who are the recent additions. We should do something about it. |

I did this TRIO yesterday night, nice puzzle, but could do it little fast (better than my standards) of course used trail and error at places. In fact all puzzles at French prequalifications were excellent. |

Country : India | Administrator posted @ 2011-04-25 4:00 PM After a long wait, LMI April Sudoku Test is over. We had some excellent performances at the top. Thomas blew through the Sudokus in 90 minutes, and Jan completed in 101 minutes. Nikola completed in 108 minutes. They complete the podium for April Sudoku Test. 7 other players completed all sudokus in 120 minutes, and at least few more were close to complete all, most notably Timothy. The score page is indeed top-heavy. Among Indian players, Rohan was the only one to complete. Rishi made a mistake (typo again!) in Trio and messed up with Product, otherwise he was close too. Gaurav (participated out of the official ISC window) solved 12 puzzles correctly to complete Indian podium. Overall we had 268 players, out of which 209 players submitted at least one Sudoku correctly. Test Solvers Many thanks to Branko Ceranic (skywalker) and Gülce Özkütük (suboree) for pretesting all the Sudokus, and also testing the web interface before the round started. |
