I think this is my worst performance of the year. At least for 7 puzzles I reached contradictions, and then solved them after time and realized how stupid my errors were. I liked the Yajilin a lot, but not competitively, because you never know when you miss one black cell somewhere or other, and you always have that feeling some clue might not be satisfied with the added diagonal constraint to look at. Dikuro, Digits Rotation, Disposition were among my favorites too.

Thanks for the test Riad.

got the value of the horizontal cards in the diamond puzzle as 2 3 5 7 and 10 and i placed the cards in such a way that the conditions in the question (borders dont have common segments and all diamonds should be used)got sastisfied but my answer seems to be wrong as i m not awarded points for that puzzle ..what is the error in my solution? .....i can post a pic of mine if needed?!

Hi. We looked into your solution. See the intersection of 8 card and 5 card according to your labeling and make note of all diamonds used. There are 2 diamonds in there that are not used by either 8 or 5. Thats one mistake. I guess there are others. Remember all diamonds must be used by at least one card.

hi..i have understood the question incorrectly.i misinterpreted 'all given diamonds should be used' as something else....like i thought that each of the diamonds have to be present in atleast one card and the position of the diamonds should match that in the card..took me some time to realise this after i went through your reply.......now got it.!thnks a ton for going through it and explaining me my mistake

I made so many errors, I can hardly read some of my answers! Silly brain. Very 'dense' puzzle types, these will be great to do over a longer time period.
Thanks Riad, I hope you will continue to make the week-long tests that you are famous for too. I really look forward to those. Maybe LMI could host one?

Similar sentiments as Stefano's here

Certainly there are many takers for Riad's week-long contests and LMI would be happy to host one of those.

Poor playing means poor score... Not that I did that many mistakes, but on about every puzzle I had the feeling of being twice too slow. I needed as much time on the Dikuro as on the Diayajilin despite the fact that I had to correct a mistake on this last one. I stared at a half-filled Diversion for nearly 10' without doing or even trying anything, and finally solved it in less than a minute... just after the end of the test. And why exactly didn't I try the Diversion without borders although I felt confident on this type ?

Anyway, my feeling about the test is that there were some very nice puzzles (amongst the ones I solved, Diayajilin and Dikuro in particular were great), but that several types are amongst the ones I prefer to see on a "one week test" rather than on a timed event (notably Diamonds, Digits rotation or Divergence). On the other hand, given the coming of WPC, it could prove useful to try ourselves at some unusual types of puzzles under the threat of the timer...

Thanks for the test Riad.

I really suffered through this set breaking basically every puzzle. But solving them now afterwards they were all really nice. The ones I didn't solve in competition are actually the once I thought were the nicest.

Congratulations Palmer, Ulrich, Janka and Hideaki!
Including bonus Palmer scored 265 points, and Ulrich 243.
Thank you all for participating!

In July, I learned that the WSC/WPC will be held October 1–7. By this time I had prepared my regular 8-day contest. If I had planned a contest on 7–15 September, it would distract everyone from preparation for WSC/WPC. So, I hastily came up with a new 2-hour contest. In a rush I was inattentive. I apologize for the fact that I was inaccurate.
Thank you again, my friends!

without the solutions puzzles like digits rotation ,divergence, dioxides and so on will remain a mystery till eternity to patzers like me....because these are puzzles where u can easily see where u have gone wrong seeing the answer ..so if solutions are available it would be highly preferable to post it here........

Digits rotation:

X666______X
_66_6_5_5__
______55_5_
99_________
9______88__
99____8_8_7
9_9__8_8__7
99___88___7
___4_____7_
___44___777
X___4_____X

The easiest way to start is to use the 26 diagonal clue. With some help from the 11 you can narrow it down to two choices: either 44-99, or 55-88 (in order from the 26's arrow). If you also keep in mind that there are few ways to obtain 18 and 28 on the top, you should eventually stumble on this way of packing the 4,5,6,9. Then it's just a matter of packing the 8 to avoid every clue, and having the 11 and 13 see exactly one 7.

Divergence:

Most Lasers solve in a similar way: find a really constrained clue, use it, cross it out, rinse and repeat. This one throws a few tricks in thanks to the Ys, but is still pretty similar. First do these clues in order: the 7 in C8, the 3 between C8 and C9 (a nice use of parity), the 5 in C7. In the process of this you can make the realization that the straight segments have to squeeze through the middle without joining too early, which then brings the 8 between C5 and C6 to bear. Then look at: the 6 in C5, the 5 in R1, the 5 in R2 (with the 3 in the last column you can finally finish the top right), the 7 in R7 (whole bottom left done), the 3 between R5 and R6 (combined with the finished 5 in R6), and then use the 6 between C2 and C3 to finish.

Dioxides:

_00S00S0S0_
_S_0_0__00S
_0_S_S0S__0
_S000000_S0
_0_0S0S_000
S0S0____S_S
0000S0__000
0S___00S_S0
___S0S00_0_
S0_00___0S_
00S0S00S0__

Osmium marked as S. Should be easy to see what the molecules are from this. This was in my opinion the most straightforward solve of the bunch if you had a grip on the type. The bottom left is an easy start since it's a dead-end. As you work your way from there, the most helpful realization is that you can't have too many oxygens all in one place, which means any O surrounded by lots of others often can't be an osmium.
