Hi All,
For all the new members, here is the link for Tapa practise puzzles http://logicmastersindia.com/lmitests/dl.asp?view=1&attachmentid=22...
The puzzles are sorted from easy to hard, So I recommend you to do it in the same way.

NOTE :
1. Please use the booklet for practising the puzzles only.
2. These puzzles are from a competition previously held at LMI and that competition has nothing to do with the IPC 2012 except for using the puzzles for practise.
3. Please ignore Page 1 of the PDF booklet.
4. Please do not ask any questions about that competition in this thread.

In the sample puzzle for Coded TomTom given in the instruction booklet, the first number should be AH+, right? It's given as AF+, which doesn't lead to a proper solution.

Hi,

In the past, IPCs have been open for a longer period to allow international participation. (eg, in parts of USA, it will start at 3:30am).
Will there be the option this year to participate later in the day, or even another day for other nationalities competing as guests?

Yes, we'll keep it open for Monday midnight GMT time (just like other LMI tests) for international participation.

Hi.. I am an Indian living in USA... I want to take part in IPC 2012. Since the test is from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm, it will be morning 4:30 am here. What I wanted to know is, will a printer be required or will it be more convenient to solve it if we print the puzzles out on paper? If that is so I will have to run to lab early in the morning :( .... please do give me some suggestions regarding this.. thanx

A printer helps, and its always best to solve on paper speed-wise, but then, you can easily do it on paint/some similar tool as well. If you want to optimize your performance, you're probably better off with a printer and should probably decide if you can go to the lab early, but as long as you are logically sound in solving the puzzles, it won't affect you a huge lot. I gave IPC 2010 and numerous LMI tests before April on paint :)

I'm a resident of India. I would like to know if we must definitely start the puzzles at 2 pm, or can we start it later, say at 6 pm, provided we complete it within 2.5 hours?

If you want to be eligible for Selection to Team India, and be in the official Indian IPC results, you should start it at 2 PM and you have till 4.30. It is open for longer mainly for International participants to enjoy the competition at their convenience.

Sorry, a bit of a semantics clarification question...
Instruction Booklet - Masyu: "and it may not visit all cells"
Does this imply that a solution cannot visit all cells, or simply that it is not a requirement that all cells must be visited?

Just one clarification.
I hope Coded TomTom follows instructions of previous TomTom puzzle which says that Place digits from 1 to N where is the size of the grid. In the coded TomTom examples digits from 1-5 (N=5) are not placed.
I am hoping that this is just an example. In the actual puzzle we have to put numbers from 1 to N?

Another somewhat trivial clarification question...

For Kakuro, "Digits must not repeat within any sum." if the column/row clue is blank (i.e. there is no sum), does the rule still hold?
