Is it guaranteed that there is a space (or an asterisk) between consecutive words? Specifically, for the example, it appears that the word WORD could be moved one space earlier if it was okay to touch CURL.

Can ships cover up numbers? (that is, are numbers also considered water)?
Also, the rules mention that ships cannot touch diagonally -- what does it mean for ships to touch diagonally?

For a row that has a shaded cell, is it guaranteed that all cells in the row will be shaded? Or is it possible for only some cells in a row to be shaded? |
