In Tapa Guard, is there any end to "how far" a guard looks across a puzzle? Does it end at another clue? I misunderstood the instructions at first and imagined it was "immediately adjacent shaded cells" only.
The IB states that
"Additionally, each digit clue also represents a guard. The digit's value indicates the number of shaded cells in the corresponding direction. A digit in the undivided cell must satisfy the count constraint in at least one of the four directions. "
The cells need not be immediately adjacent, as the example suggests. A guard's view extends to the edge of the grid and is not blocked by other clues.
