Looks interesting types, and would serve as a good practice before Snake round appears soon in PR by you.

As the Puzzle types for the linked snake is different than rest of the test, it would be helpful if there is an example for the same, even a small one would do.

The rules for the classic snake state that the centre will be given, but the example doesn't show it. Is it correct that all four classic snakes will have head, tail and centre given, but no total length?

Just to confirm, for the loop snake, you put in a snake, and then the puzzle is solvable as a "simple loop"?

For the coded snake, may there be gaps in the set of clues, and is 0 permitted?

For the linked snake, does the masyu white pearl rule extend into the neighbouring quadrants? I.e., if there's a white pearl on the edge, and the snake passes this orthogonally to the grid edge, does the cell in the next grid count as a possible turn?

Thanks!

Good catch. I believe the instructions need to be corrected. The example is correct, the centre will NOT be given.

Yes, that is correct.

For the coded snake, may there be gaps in the set of clues, and is 0 permitted?

The range of numbers possible for the alphabets will be given. Eg: If there are 8 alphabets, range can be 0~7, 1~8, 1~9 (with one missing), etc. It will be given.

For the linked snake, does the masyu white pearl rule extend into the neighbouring quadrants? I.e., if there's a white pearl on the edge, and the snake passes this orthogonally to the grid edge, does the cell in the next grid count as a possible turn?

The rules apply ONLY to that particular quadrant. The puzzle is such that there won't be any confusion/discrepancy like the example you mentioned :-)

The instruction booklet has links to two previous Snake Variation contests. Also, croco-puzzle is currently running a series of snake variants: http://www.croco-puzzle.com/Ue-Raetsel/serie.php?serie=60 (though the rules are in German, but feel free to ask).

Loop Snake: Is the loop necessarily unique? May the loop go through black cells (the given ones, not the snake)?

The loop is not necessarily unique. The loop CANNOT go through given black cells.

However, for this contest, the loop WILL BE unique in all the puzzles, and this has been added to the instructions.

Explaining the answer key of Toroidal

In Toroidal, you need to continue counting when the snake wraps around. For example, the accepted answer keys for all the columns will be : 22205060 OR 33316071

Thanks for the "Linked Snake" example, it does a very good job pointing out that clues don't affect the other quadrants, I made errors there quite a few times.

Is the solution to #9 on the contest unique? Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that the top right corner can be done in two ways.

It is unique. Given black cells are NOT part of the snake.

Maybe you can show us a solution which doesn't match the answer key? I cannot see an alternate solution.

Ah, I see. It was not unique in v1 of the booklet. Luckily, the system took my answer anyways.

Nice set of puzzles. Fun test. I felt as this test anyway doesn't count for ratings, I would have preferred bit more time (90 min test). I was able to solve all puzzles but may be slow, but i continued solving after the time is over and I realized few of the high pointers later were very easy in comparison to few other low pointers. But anyway completed all puzzles. May be took 30-40 min more considering I took 20 min to do Coded Snake big pointer (was doing lot of mistakes due to some un-necessary assumptions).
Thanks ashish for this set.
