Country : India | Administrator posted @ 2010-08-24 11:10 AM As part of our regular Monthly tests, we have 2 Puzzle Tests planned before IPC2010. Broken Pieces on 28th and 29th September EverGreens II on 4th and 5th September Both of these will be online events and will be conducted similar to IPC2010. If you are new to IPC or LMI events, it is strongly suggested that you participate in these tests to get familiar with the online system. These 2 tests will expose you to several things, including • How to download the IB and Puzzle Booklet? • How to get the password for Puzzle Booklet? • How to submit the answers? • And most importantly, how do you prepare and plan for the event. |

All Indian results in this duration will not be considered for selection to the national team. If you find the official timings comfortable then you are free to participate during the official test too. |

If you are registered on our site/forum (which I presume you already are since you posted on the forum ), you can simply use the same username and password to participate. Rishi |

Rajesh, I dont think there is any worry with regards to overloading of the server, we have not faced any overloading issues in any of the monthly tests. and it is unlikely that a highly drastic change will be there in the number of foreign players participating. |

In the monthly tests, test remains open for 48 hours. If consider that there are 160 participants then on the average, people submitting the answers will be around 4/hour. The test will be open for 2 hours and say 100 people participate and all submitting the answers at the same, it may overload server. Hopefully LMI server will be able to take this load. |

Posts: 349 Country : India | amitsowani posted @ 2010-09-09 11:43 AM The puzzles have been divided into five groups. The first group is dedicated to Sudoku, which is definitely one of the most popular puzzle type. A couple of the Sudoku concepts have been borrowed from Jan Mrzowski's blog and from the Polish Puzzle Championship 2010. The next section is for Basic Variants which the participants are very likely to have seen before even in newspapers. The third section has observational and word puzzles, like spot differences, word search which I am sure most of you must have solved when you were kids :) The fourth section is dedicated to Puzzle types from the Polish Puzzle Championship in accordance to the fact that WPC 2010 will be hosted by Poland. The last section is again a section of basic variants which have commonly occured in past Polish Championships. Hope you all have a great time solving these puzzles. Please go through the Instruction Booklet carefully and do post any doubts regarding the puzzle instructions answer format etc. on the forum. |

Posts: 349 Country : India | amitsowani posted @ 2010-09-09 12:28 PM There are no bonus points for the official rankings in the IPC. We will include a bonus of 10 points per minute saved in the rankings which include all non Indian participants. In case participants finish all puzzles correctly within the alloted time then the tie will be broken based on the time stamp of the last correctly submitted answer. |

Does the number represents number of fence sides or number of turns taken on that side? Rajesh, There will be numbers on all 4 sides of the figure. The numbers on the left and bottom indicate the number of corners (turns ) and the numbers on the right and top of the figure indicate the number of sides of the loop. Hope this clarifies. |
