now that the WSC/WPC is over, I invite you to take part in a little fun contest which will take place this weekend.

The task is not to solve puzzles, but to recognize puzzle types from a given miniature specimen. Don't worry about the German contest name, the instruction file contains English explanations as well. Enjoy!

Quick question : Will the puzzle types be listed as options? After checking the IB, it doesn't look like that will be the case. But just clarifying. |

Country : Germany | There will not be a list of possible puzzle types. I know that this could cause a few complications (different solutions for a puzzle and the question if these puzzle types are really "well-known", "popular", etc). Most of the puzzle types appearing in this contest (that is, the intended ones) have frequently come up in major events (e.g. WPCs). |

(I have only a very vague idea about the actual difficulty of the contest puzzles, but it felt right to add 10 minutes.) |

Country : India | Missed too many basic types (Snake - I kept thinking it would be Fillomino for a while, but Snake came to my mind too)
I think your original estimate of 30 minutes was more perfect. Since all the grids were 3X4 or 3X3, not much solving was needed. Either one could associate the rule or they can't.
I'm wondering if it would have been a good idea to provide a list of 100 or 200 puzzle types for this contest. But having a chat with Zoltan, and he mentioned that providing a list may kill the whole concept of the contest. I probably agree with him.
