I think you meant 1 in last column in row 6.
Also, you can refer to the attached image (from sudokuwiki.org) for hints. All cells of the same colour must contain digits 1-9 exactly once.

Hi Ronaldo,

Let me try to help you.

You rightly found that 1's spot to be R6C9.

The next number I placed was 7 in R8C7, by this sequence of eliminations:
Because of 7 in R3C1 & R5C9, 7 can be only in one of R6C2 or R6C3. So 7 can be only in one of R9C2 or R9C3.(R6C2 and R6C3 are part of the same window so other cells in that window can not have 7). Because 7 is either in R9C2 or R9C3 and there is a 7 in R5C9, so we can place a 7 in R8C7 for that box.

The next number I placed was 7 in R7C5, now find the logic behind it and you are on your way to solving this.

It took me much longer than usual to solve this sudoku, so I think the level of difficulty is rather very high. So do not sweat it, if you can not solve this. Try the web for some easy Windoku puzzle and you will be able to solve I suppose. Again this is only the Instruction sample and it indicates that in the test this puzzle carries only 2 points, so I expect this puzzle to be very easy in the test.

Best of luck

Try to find out what the "equal sum" could be. What could be the minimum possible value on the slanting line. Also try to look at other lines and eliminate possibilities. Also, you can fill some cells by classic rules.

Hi I can try helping you. Look at the long slanting line and calculate the minimum sum. There is a 5 in box 3. The minimum in box 5 will be 1,2,3 which is 6. The minimum in box 7 will be 1,4,5 which equals 10. so the minimum possible sum in a line is 5+6+10 =21. Now look at box 1. 2 can come only in R1C2.or R1C3. If 2 is in R1C3, you will need a minimum of 19 in the 2 cells below (R2C3 and R3C3) which is not possible. So 2 can fit only in R1C2. You can try the rest after this.

What was your opinion of the distribution of easy/hard puzzles? Just right
What did you think about the puzzle quality of the test? Very nice
Which set of puzzles did you like the most? Little Killer Sudoku
Of the puzzles you solved/attempted, how well did the point values reflect the difficulty? Most puzzles were worth the right amount

Feedback page asks for 3 favorite puzzles, but the choices are about whether the puzzles were worth the right amount, so I'll answer here instead:

3 favorite puzzles: Little Killer, X-Sums, Odd-Even Bridge

Thanks Rakesh for a refreshing set of Sudokus. Really enjoyed solving them. I was a bit patchy and messed up Killer multiple times, but the overall quality of Sudokus was quite good.

Great set of sudokus Rakesh ! I thoroughly enjoyed the contest and it was hard to choose a favourite amongst these. However, if I were to pick a few, LK, X-Sums and Equal sum Lines would top the list in that order.

The sudokus were very nicely constructed and were clean as a whistle.I was mostly concerned about Kid sudoku as I haven't seen this type much before in the past.Fortunately, I got through that rather fast after getting the idea.I had major hiccups in Rhombus and Diagonal towards the end but thankfully I didn't break those.

Thanks a lot for the contest !

Hi Ronaldo,

Please try a easier windoku first and then come to this difficult. Try to understand the logic from the solution from the solutions as a last resort, as advised by the admin.

Hi again,

This is the first Equal Sum Lines Sudoku I have solved since starting to solve variants some 10 months ago. So I am not a expert and the experts have already given you hints. Still I will add one more. Please read this with the earlier posts with others.

The minimum sum must be 21 has been established. In box 9, since 1 can't be in R6C6 (minimum can't be reached, same logic to have put 2 in R1C2), we place 1 in R7C6, This means that 4 has to be in R6C6 or R6C7. So the maximum possible sum of the line in R6C6-9 can be 21 only (4+8+9). So we conclude that the Equal Sum is 21. With this deduction you must be able to solve, I suppose.

I am reluctant to post this because I am new to this and so I might have missed something. In some other variants after solving it in the Instructions I have found out that further insights are needed to solve the variant.

Keep trying and solve more of the same variants to understand it fully. You are bound to improve over time.
