Country : India | Update - We have sent a mail requesting some details and giving some information to the top 50. If you are in the top 50 and haven't received a mail (check in spam too), let us know. Also, we will be answering competition related queries here, even if they are asked on mail.
One such query -
What is WSC format?
Typically a World Sudoku Championship includes multiple rounds of solving. The solver is tested not just in Classics and Variants, but also some different concepts which shift a little from the usual mode of thinking. It is also a test of endurance, since there will be multiple little rounds through the day instead of one 90 minute block. We'll be releasing the Instruction Booklet around 2 weeks before the event, and like the online rounds, this booklet will have more detailed information about round structure and variants and other rules involved.

We are still in the process of preparing the Sudokus, so listing down the variants is not possible at the moment.
However, we have decided that there will not be any new variant apart from the 35 appeared in the seven episodes of Mahabharat. |

Country : India | Query in mail -
What will be done in the Q&A session in the schedule?
Typically, a WSC has a Q&A session to cover the newer rules and any doubts in the instructions that participants may have. People can also clear their doubts on the forum itself before attending the event of course (in fact that's advisable ), but consider this a final on-site check to ensure that everyone understands the rules, structure and format of each round of the competition. |

Is linked Sudoku same as clone Sudoku ? Conceptually yes.
But Clone has a single grid, and Linked Classics here have 2 grids. |

The difficulty level for the sudoku's would be same/similar as published in instruction booklet?
Firstly, as mentioned in the instructions booklet (page 4 ), the difficulty of an example is not necessarily reflective of the difficulty of the corresponding competition Sudoku.
About the overall difficulty of different rounds, we have tried to match with that of the online rounds. |

It will be Odd Even. The example is correct, the points table is not. Will fix the points table.

In the IB for the Relay Sudoku (Classic -> Either Or -> Either Or) hints on Sudoku 3 are shown as A and B which needs to be corrected to C and D.

The permitted items which may be taken into the competition hall and used are: Pens, pencils, erasers, rulers,

Does that means i can bring any solved example types not present in IB (with how to solve tricks for that particular sudoku) along with the IB ? |

Country : India | The finale of the inaugural Sudoku Mahabharat was indeed superb. We really enjoyed the first four rounds of solving - each of them tested a different aspect of solving - and the fifth round was a good eye-check up test. There was healthy competition between the top 5 and anyone could have won on their day. In the end, the recreational activities were very enjoyable as well. And it was a perfect opportunity to meet a lot of old timers and some new faces, apart from Deb, Rohan and Prasanna, of course.
A lot of effort must have gone into the organization of the finals - both the puzzle part and the logistics part. Thanks to all the organizers of the event. The prizes on offer were well thought of. And the venue was also perfect for the occasion. The organization was flawless. We stuck to the round timelines and scores were available almost real time.
I can say that those who could not make it to the finals missed a great event. |

Congrats to all the winners and participants. Wanted to add Sumit's name here. He took care of the goody bag (containing the exam board, notepad with blank sudoku grids, band, badge, pen/pencil, tag ) and the trophies for top 3. All the stuff were specially designed for Sudoku Mahabharat. Unfortunately he could not make it to the finals.
Thanks also to Akash who carried all the stuff from Kolkata. |

I can say that those who could not make it to the finals missed a great event. Not only they missed a great event, they also helped to increase the expenses for the organizers significantly.
Out of the top 50, around 8 players had immediately responded that they won't be able to attend, and the rest 42 players responded that they will be attending the event. All the arrangements were done based on those numbers. However, exactly one-third dropped out from the event. There were of course some genuine reasons for dropping out, but we also heard reasons like "oh, I didn't realize that today is 10th".
It is important to respect the commitments since nobody was forced to make a commitment. I was personally very sad to see players from Bangalore missing out without even letting us know till the last moment. |

I think the volunteers also deserve mention. The three volunteers were Deb's friend Himanshu, my mom (Usha ) and her friend, Swati. We're thankful to all three of them for their help in checking the competition booklets and the other odds and ends they helped with over the course of the event. |
