As Amit mentioned in the other thread, LMI Monthly test for May 2010 will be organized on the weekend of 22-23rd May.
While we are working on the details, I thought I should share the types of Sudokus to expect.

There will be 6 twin Sudokus (so total 12 in number). Each twin will be related by a rule. See Example Puzzle.
The test will have the following listed types
Classic
XV
No Knight Step
Trio
No Touch
Kropki
Consecutive
Touchy
Quadro
Symmetric Unequal
Small Neighbours
Odd Even

We'll post the details soon.

Now displaying the time in local time zone as well. Can the non-IST users check if it works properly / does not work?
    2 places
    1) http://logicmastersindia.com/M201005/ -> Login -> It should show a message below the "Start LMI Test..."
    2) Click on the Timings tab. It should show local start and end.

    2) Timings tab does not update after login (so I see exactly "(Local Time : Start , End ) " ) .

The numbers between grids represent the number of digits which are at the same cells in the corresponding row in both grids.

Will the puzzles have only 'row' givens? And not column givens?

    Rohan,
The actual puzzles will be replica of the examples (except of course that the digits / hints will change)
    does that clarify?

More than 150 downloads of the IB and more than 300 views of this thread.

Hopefully there will be significant number of participants too. Being a conservative, I would think around 60.

Any other guesses? Unfortunately, we can't be giving points for these guesses

One player asked me how to remove pencil mark. So I think many players might not know this trick

Did you know that pressing Control key while left clicking on a pencil mark removes that pencil mark?
Try that out today - You would might need it in the test if you are solving online.

Not sure if this is the best place to answer. May be we should open a separate thread for these 'FAQ' kind of questions. It will be helpful for new players.

Rohan, In the actual puzzle there won't be any 2X2 square which are adjoining to each other. Does that answer your question?

The beautiful instruction booklet persuaded me that this was going to be the best online Sudoku competition to date and I wasn't disappointed. Really enjoyed solving all the puzzles. Found the anti-knight and touchy very hard but the consecutive easier than expected. Made a stupid mistake on Trio with a couple of minutes left. Congratulations to Jason, Nikola and Branko but especially congratulations to yourself. Worth getting up at 5.40am for.

I was expecting more than 3 players to get bonus points, but I think bad mistakes cost bonus points to Michael, David, Gotroch, Frederique.

Gotroch would have got close to 25 minutes bonus points, had his 7 and 8 not swapped.

I think 2 hours was just perfect for the set of Sudokus. All thanks to Amit who tested and set the Time Limit of 2 hours.

    very less Indian participants????????????????
What can I say / do? Finally, we had close to 20, which is "ok" kinda number.

But the more concerning factor is there was only 1 in top 10, Congrats to Ritesh (who is getting back to form after WSC)
I chatted with both Rohan and Gaurav regarding their performance, which was way below my expectation.

I feel Indians are not taking it as seriously as others. [PS : This absolutely my personal opinion, not that of LMI's]

Also, probably thats the reason why some players just start the test and don't submit the answers.

The instruction booklet seemed very interesting.. but I couldn't partecipate...
I suggest that we can take the tests during periods of 48 hours.

Hope I don't miss the next one!

    Thanks Tejal.
Learnt from Rohan that you had internet problems, and you could not submit because of that. Bad luck :-)
