In the Battle Tapa, the rule "ships can't touch each other not even diagonally" is missing.
If ignoring that rule, there is another solution.

Here's a repost of my Battle Tapa example, because I don't know where the other thread went. I also am assuming that the 'ships can't touch' rule is missing from the instructions.

Note that there's one one-unit ship missing from the standard Battleships set.

Very good question, I should mention in the IB. Yes, clue cells are white.

I missed "touching" things in IB. Yes, ships cannot touch each other even diagonally.

I don't think the Total False Tapa Example is unique. Or am I missing a rule?

[Edit] I figured it out. I now understand that the amount of sections also has to differ from the amount of digits given in the clue cell.

Is there a chance the clue cells in Equal tapa can be coloured grey? It has been the case in other variations. It's just that in another variation they do count as white cells.

I look forward to beginning a new tapa season. In Serbia we have a new verb "tapanje". It means "doing tapa" .

About puzzle 7. Digital Tapa I wonder why number 9 is given. Can we expect clues in bigger cells, 2x2 for example? In that case is it possible to appear two-digit clue? Thanks!

Nikola

I don't understand the rules of Tapa Guard. From the example I have a theory. I have repeated rule 2 in a way that it makes sense to me. All changed words are upper-case:

2 - Each digit represents a guard, observing EXACTLY that amount of blackened cells in the corresponding DIRECTION. A digit in an undivided cell MUST observe in AT LEAST ONE of the four directions.

I also had a question about Tapa Guard.

In an undivided cell, if there are equal digits, should each observe that amount of cells in a different direction? I used this in my puzzle, but I wasn't 100% sure if I was correct in assuming that now.

At least it's handy to know submitting in the grace period will always increase your score as no puzzle is worth less than the total penalty.

Yes, a digit in an undivided cell should observe in at least one of the 4 direction. It can observe all four directions, or two of them, or three of them; but in any case it has at least one observation.

I didn't use that you mentioned clue type in competition puzzles. All undivided clue cell has only one digit.
