Yes, no two white circles are on the same island, according to my interpretation. (Otherwise Prasanna should have written "white cells cannot be passed by the snake" period, without saying anything about the number of them in an island. )

I still don't understand. : ( From what I see, the two tests simply have a common theme, but what other point? |

Country : France | Hello,
This new contest looks very exciting. But as I am a beginner, I can only hope to solve 3 or 4 problems in the allotted time. Is it possible, for this contest as for the other ones, to provide a decreasing system of points, encouraging to continue to look for other problems after the end of the planned 121 minutes? Thank you in advance. |

In STILO should the adjacent shapes be different from each other when touched orthogonal.
Yes.
The base rules are - When two “shapes” (tetrominoes formed by a group of 4 continuous cells ) in adjacent regions
share an edge, they must not be of the same type, regardless of rotations or reflections.
In LITS, the shapes must be formed by shaded cells within a region and in STILO, by unshaded cells, but in both, the shaded cells must be connected throughout the grid. |

For Akichiwake, there is this line in the rules - There need not be an area equal to this value, the only restriction is there can be no area larger than the
value connected within the region.
The region can basically work without any number but I put in the 9 to illustrate this sentence. The number just shows that there cannot be a white area larger than that. |

I think that type is inherently gonna be hard most of the time, unless the author makes a real effort towards simplifying things (giving more two-cell sums, etc. in the layout, or obviously low sums, neither of which "that" Prasanna did here extensively ). But yes, this one's a bit hard, and good practice for the high pointer on the test, I feel.
Also, hope you have the changed version with the 40 sum in R2. Just checking to make sure. |

A lot of truly original puzzle ideas, and they were a lot of fun. Unfortunately there was not enough time to even start many of them, so it seems some of the effort was wasted. I always intend to finish them later but it doesn't always happen. I prefer the marathon/timeless format. The speed demons will still win (with their bonus points ) but other solvers will get a chance to try all the puzzles. |

Country : India | Parallel Universe II is over.
Our Universe Prasanna - Congrats to EKBM for an amazing performance. I can honestly say I never expected someone to be that fast on this set, but the best solvers of the world never cease to amaze. deu (2nd in the Sudoku leg too!) and Nikola took the 2nd and 3rd spots with impressive performances in their own right. Also, congrats to Rajesh for topping the Indian rankings but for me Kishore was the pleasant surprise here, good performance by him to achieve the 2nd best Indian score. The participation for this test wasn't high like Parallel Universe, but the ones who did seemed to enjoy it and that's the important part.
The highest rated puzzles were Fill-Other-Mino (which has a rating of 9.44, but it should be noted that it has the least number of participants rating it), Kakuro DNK, Star Wars, Akichiwake and Pata-Like Loop. It's been a really fun 2 weeks putting together a theme like this one, where I had to come up with variant ideas that were suitable replacements (for the first contest) and inverts (for the second contest), and I'm glad that everyone who came along on the ride enjoyed it too. I actually had a lot of ideas I didn't use, so maybe I'll revisit this general idea in the future. It's always a fun thought process for me to think "what if this was the version of things".
Thanks to my testers Tiit and Vladimir, for some really good feedback, and again, for testing within the short time span I gave them.
Thank you all for participating!
Their Universe Prasanna - *speechless about EKBM's performance* Anyway, it's been a fun 2 weeks for me too to discover the weird variants and puzzles that you guys solve and also to represent my side of things. Maybe our universes will collide again in the future... Until then, Happy puzzling! |

Hey,
The intended start is to see limitations around the top right. What happens if R4C10 is an island cell? Figuring that out is the difficult part. After that it should flow. |
