Terms & Conditions for Restrictions

Starting 16th July, 2023, these are the list of scenarios where authors could be restricted for causing violations, along with the consequences of that. We do not want to curtail the posting of puzzles, so the general concept here is, if there are violations, the author will not be as promoted in the expo as they would be without violations. We hope this will bring about a self-imposed standard among authors to the betterment of everyone.

1. Deleting/editing puzzles
If an author deletes a puzzle, the timings/comments/etc. are lost with it. In this case, there is a simple 24-hour cooldown period before the author can post a new puzzle. Similarly, if an author edits a puzzle after some solvers have started, this can cause irregularities too and so has the same consequence. Edits within 5 minutes of posting the puzzle are exempt from this though. Still, authors are encouraged to use the preview option before submitting.

2. Broken puzzles
We understand that broken puzzles are always a possibility, with handcrafted puzzles. However, multiple broken puzzles in a short period of time is avoidable and so, if an author has 3 broken puzzles within a week (7-day period), they will be "unlisted" for the subsequent week. Unlisted means, they may still post puzzles but their puzzles will not be featured in the home page sections. A broken puzzle here is a puzzle that has 0 solutions or more than 1 solution with respect to the overall rules posted.

3. Bad formatting/Bad editing
While penpa can be a little challenging to use if you are unfamiliar with it, we at least expect that the guidelines we have posted on the forum are read and respected. If a puzzle does not follow these guidelines we reserve the right to place the puzzle under review. This section does not have exact consequences and will be dealt with on a more case by case basis. It won't count as a violation unless an author shows a refusal to adhere to the guidelines repeatedly.

Overall
Considering the scenarios above, multiple violations by an author, within a short period of time, will result in a warning from LMI, and if it continues in a similar way after that, a ban from posting puzzles on Puzzle Expo.
