Each puzzle has 25 base points. If the puzzle is submitted correctly before the time limit, you get 25 points.
Additionally, you get bonus points depending upon when you submit the puzzle. If a puzzle has X seconds time limit, and you submit correctly at Y seconds, you will get (X Y) points as bonus.
Please note that bonus points are computed only after you click "Next Puzzle". Just selecting the option key is not enough. So to get maximum bonus, select the correct option key and click on "Next Puzzle" as soon as you know the answer. Also, you won't be able to change the answer key after clicking on "Next Puzzle"
Negative points ranging from -25 to -50 per puzzle will be given for incorrect submissions based on how many incorrect submissions for all the answer options have been submitted by all players for that specific puzzle.
All the 100-seconds puzzles will appear first, in the order shown on the left. Then the 150-seconds puzzles will appear, again in the order shown on the left.
Monitor Since the puzzles will be projected on your computer monitor, it is important to have a decent size monitor to avoid scrolling. Full Screen If your monitor is small, you should consider using Full Screen mode. The flash submission system has a Full Screen Button. Browser Some browsers clutter the screen leaving less space for webpages. For the Screen Test, You should consider using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer 9 or Firefox which leave maximum space for web pages. Mouse Since all the answering is to be done with mouse, it is important that you have a mouse which works nicely.
Each puzzle will have a time limit, and it has to be solved within the specified time limit.
There will not be any Puzzle Booklet to download. All the puzzles are to be solved on screen.
Participants are allowed to draw images / grids on paper and answer on the screen. There is no provision to draw / type / take notes on screen.
Each puzzle will have certain number of answer options. Participants have to select the answer option using mouse. Typing is not allowed / needed in ST5.
There will be 20 puzzles, and they are to be solved within 45 minutes.
First 10 puzzles will have a time limit of 100 seconds each. Last 10 puzzles will have a time limit of 150 seconds each.
The instructions for example puzzles and test puzzles are absolutely same. If you have read the instructions while viewing examples, you dont need to read them again while taking the test.
All puzzles, including the Instructionless, in this Screen Test is based on a theme i.e. maximum.
The answer option will always correspond to maximum of "something".

Some puzzles may have part of instructions in small font. The text in small font is for completeness of instructions, and should be known to most solvers.

Based on a suggestion in forum last screen test, we have added an option to skip a puzzle. Please remember that when you skip a puzzle, you cannot come back to it at a later point. Also each puzzle has their own time limit. If you skip one puzzle, you are not going to get extra time for another. You should skip a puzzle only when you are certain that you can't solve the puzzle and you don't want to attract penalty by selecting a wrong answer.
