14 regional rounds were held as a part of the college festivals in reputed colleges in different colleges across the country (Mumbai, Kharagpur, Rourkela, Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Bangalore, Kanpur, Hyderabad, Ranchi, Bhopal, Delhi, Roorkee and Pilani) in the months of January-April.

From each regional round top 3 players were selected for National Finals.
An Online Qualifying round was conducted for players who couldn't attend the regional rounds. Top 15 players from this round were selected for National Finals
Defending champion Rohan Rao won the Indian Sudoku Championship 2011 with a clinical performance making it two in two years. Rohan scored 1895 with a comfortable lead over second place Ritesh Gupta scoring 1155 and third place Sumit Bothra with 1140 points. Tejal Phatak stood fourth completing the Indian team with 1105. Last year’s finalist Gaurav Korde was a shade lower than his best and stood fifth
