13 regional rounds were held as a part of the college festivals in reputed colleges in different colleges across the country (Mumbai, Kharagpur, Rourkela, Goa, Guwahati, Bangalore, Kanpur, Hyderabad, Ranchi, Bhopal, Delhi, Roorkee and Pilani) in the months of January-April.

From each regional round top 3 players were selected for National Finals.
An Online Qualifying round was conducted for players who couldn't attend the regional rounds. Top 15 players from this round were selected for National Finals
Defending champion Rohan Rao won the Indian Puzzle Championship 2011 after shoving off a stiff competition from last year's runner up Rajesh Kumar. Rajesh took an early lead in the first round, but Rohan came back strongly to win with 1020 points. Rajesh finished 2nd with 775 points and a fantastic performance by Harmeet Singh who finished 3rd with 555 points. The famous duo of Sumit and Ritesh tied at 460 completes the top 5.
