Country : India | Rajesh and I went to The International Scrabble event in the Igate office hopeful of getting some inputs for our event.
It was frutiful in many ways.
The event was a WESPA (World English Scrabble Association) recognised event which had about 100 participants across three categories.
The event was organised in Igate office cafetaria which seemed pretty spacious for the number of participants.
It was held for a period of 4 days with a lot of support from Igate volunteers. The organisers had also arranged for breakfast and lunch. Most costs were borne by Igate which has been associated with the event for 12 years.
We spoke to the Igate HR for fun events and he showed some interest in Sudoku/ Puzzle events and has asked me to reach out to him in a couple of weeks.
We can approach them for organising the SM/PR apart from any partnering for the World Puzzle/ Sudoku Championship.
We also spoke to the Scrabble Secretary Radhika who gave us some inputs on how she has invited participants from other countries.
We found a couple of other ideas interesting.
One was the display of the trophy throughout the event
Another was the specialised prizes for each round (which were a bit scrablle rule specific, e.g: maximum points using the alphabet Q in this round, etc.)
