Hi

I think I understand the rules after a bit of reading and trying. I just have two questions.

1) Synchronised Maze: Is a path from one letter allowed to go through a letter of the other? I'm not sure if that is seen as crossing or not.
2) Is there any chance the layout of the no numbers loop can be changed? I found it somewhat hard to see my own writing over the think dashes lines as they have hardly any white space.

Thanks

Bram

I agree with Bram. Could the dashes on loop puzzles be thinner? Its really hard to see given fragments or your own notes.

Hi Para,

1) No, It's not allowed. In that case, lines are not considered to be crossing.

2) In puzzle booklet, the grid has more white space and easier to see when solving on the paper.
so don't worry.

Maybe, but I'm not really sure how that is going to work out. The Tapa was a bit easier as I at least knew how the Tapa bit worked and would see how the rest could work out.

As all types are new to many, and i guess to everyone too. I thought understanding the rules will become better if i create one. So many of them still i too have to do it properly but succeeded in creating two puzzles of "TRIO CUT". Here is the link for the Practice puzzles. Hope you will like it. :)

Maybe l can say only a few tips about the type other than written in IB.

1) there are so many possibilities of existence of numbers.
in the grid of example puzzle, there are 40 locations - 4*5 vertical pairss and 4*5 horizontal pairs.

2) and in all locations, so many orientation of numbers within the 7 segments around the pair of squares.

So, be careful :-)

Sorry, this test will not have online-solving applets.

the marked row (3rd from top) of the example has 2 lines ALONG the direction.
The length of first one (upper part of "I") is 2,
and the length of second one (bottom part of "V") is 1,
Therefore the key for this row should be "21".

The marked column (4th from left) has only 1 line ALONG the direction,
and the length of the line is 1.
Therefore the key for this column should be "1".

No, blakened cells can't form hexominos (or larger polyominoes).

this is the last of the set unless I get a matchmaker working that I'm really happy with. The Loop assumes that crossings can share an edge as showed in Swaroop's question. So Hopefully that's allowed, as nothing's said against it in the rules.

Yes, they can (unless it violates other rules).

Bonus System

Here is the bonus formula

Final Points = (Points Accumulated) / (Claim Bonus Time) * 120

Bonus will be awarded to players submitting all puzzles(with maximum one wrong submission). The wrong submission can not be a dummy submission just to get time bonus. Organizers and authors will review the wrong submission and decide if bonus should be awarded.

We are in the process of having same bonus system for all future regular tests (e.g. except Marathon / Sprint / Screen tests). I hope top players find this system as fair. Otherwise, please let us know.

Well, my long LMI puzzle "podium" streak was doomed to end eventually. 17 tests it is. This was rather hard, and 75 minutes would have been just about as good as 120 minutes for me. Still, there were some very nice designs in the puzzles I did solve so thanks for those xevs.

"No Numbers" is over. Undoubtedly one of the difficult tests, and the low participation was probably because of the unfamiliar puzzles.

So, Bram takes the first position (after 17 tries) (he loves HARD puzzles, doesn't he?), Endo Ken takes 2nd position, and Hideaki takes the 3rd position.

Ko has prepared a solutions booklets with small hints on how to solve the puzzles. Here is the link. (Click here for Japanese version).

The usual suspects from India take the top Indian spots.
